Pecan Clusters Chocolate Candy is perhaps the easiest candy you’ll ever make. And this recipe is made even easier by using a slow cooker. Just melt, mix, dollop & you’re DONE!
Homemade Chocolate Pecan Candy
Homemade pecan cluster candy is easy enough for a beginner. Plus it’s a great make-ahead candy suitable for holiday gatherings or delicious homemade gifts.
There’s a long list of homemade gift ideas at the end of this post, but for now let’s get into the easiest candy you’ll ever make.
Easy 3-Ingredient Chocolate Pecan Cluster Recipe
This pecan cluster candy recipe has only 3 ingredients (plus optional coarse-salt topping). All you need is:
12-oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips
12-oz almond bark
16 oz bag pecan halves
(Optional) A few grains of coarse salt
Just mix it all together, dollop candies onto waxed paper and BOOM! Candy-making doesn’t get any simpler than this.
Slow Cooker Chocolate Pecan Clusters
And to make it even easier, this recipe uses a slow cooker to melt the chocolate.
So no standing at the stove stirring melting chocolate trying to keep it from burning. Just chunk the chocolate into a slow cooker and stir every 15 minutes or so.
Directions for Slow Cooker Chocolate Pecan Clusters
Here’s how you make pecan clusters candy:
Chop chocolate almond bark squares and place in a slow cooker.
Add a bag of chocolate chips.
Heat on low for about 30 minutes or until fully melted, stirring every 15 minutes.
Add pecan halves to melted chocolate and fold gently to coat the pecans completely.
Now just form the mixture into individual candies.
Ways To Form Candy
I use a 1½” cookie scoop to dollop approximately 1½ tablespoons of the mixture for each candy. You can use a heaping dessert spoonful if you don’t have a cookie scoop.
Dollop candies onto silicone mat or waxed paper
For a fancier presentation for gifts, dollop into cupcake liners
Then while the candy is still warm I sprinkle just a few grains of coarse-grain salt on top. (sea salt or kosher salt works here). It’s optional but it balances the sweetness of the candy and brings a greater level of intensity to the overall flavor.
Allow the candies to cool for about 15-20 minutes, they will become more solid as they cool.
How To Store Chocolate Pecan Clusters
When fully cooled you can store your homemade candies in a lidded container at room temperature. Separate candy layers with parchment paper to keep them from sticking together.
NOTE: If you keep your home very warm the chocolate could become soft. If so it’s best to store them in the refrigerator.
Stored at room temperature these pecan cluster candies will last about 2-3 weeks. In the refrigerator they will last a couple of months. Just be sure to separate the layers with parchment paper so they don’t stick together.
Chocolate Cluster Candy Flavor Options
I almost always prefer milk chocolate or dark chocolate for these candies. But there are other flavor options you might enjoy.
White Chocolate. Use white almond bark & white chocolate chips
Peppermint. Sprinkle crushed candy canes or sugar mints onto white chocolate clusters
Candy Sprinkles. Sprinkle chocolate clusters with colored candy sprinkles
Nut Variations. Use different nuts – pecans, walnuts, etc.
Are Chocolate Pecan Cluster Candies Gluten Free?
Yes, most chocolate chips as well as almond bark is gluten free. So these chocolate pecan clusters are gluten free as I make them.
But you’ll want to double check to make sure the chocolate chip and almond bark variety you’re using is gluten free just to make sure.

-
Add 16 ounces (4 cups) pecan halves and fold gently to fully coat pecans with chocolate.

Almond Bark Note: Almond bark is usually sold in 24-oz packages. So this recipe uses only 1/2 of the package leaving the rest for other fun candy-making endeavors.
If you want to use the whole 24-oz package of almond bark for these pecan cluster candies, just add another bag of chocolate chips and 4 cups more pecan halves.
Candy Storage Note: If you keep your home very warm the chocolate could become soft. If so it's best to store them in the refrigerator.
