Hosting A Baby Shower For A Baby Boy
Our daughter was expecting their first baby – a boy! I’m looking forward to greeting our brand new grandson.
How To Send Invitations For A Party?
There are lots of options for sending baby shower invitations:
-
-
-
Cute traditional *Mailed Invitations
-
Electronic E-vites
-
Make a Facebook event for invitees
-
-
Find the method that suits you and your guests best. We decided to use the evite option and included a link to their baby shower registry for the convenience of the guests.
Do Men Attend Baby Showers?
OF COURSE! Gone are the days when only women gathered at baby showers. Now baby showers are often Co-Ed and include the guys. Dads-to-be and husbands of attendees all enjoy the party to celebrate the upcoming blessed event.
Baby Shower Theme For Baby Boy
Our little mommy-to-be chose a safari animal theme for her baby, specifically giraffes. So many of our decorations revolved around earthy tones to create a lush jungle atmosphere.
Who Can Host A Baby Shower?
Traditionally a friend or extended family member hosts the baby shower. But times have changed! We decided that several families would host our daughter’s shower and we couldn’t be more thrilled with how it turned out.
Benefits of Co-Hosting A Baby Shower
Our eldest daughter’s home was most centrally located so she agreed to host the party at her home.
But to keep the hosting from being a large responsibility and expense for just one family we added several co-hosts. Each co-host was in charge of a different portion of the shower.
Considerations For Baby Shower Responsibilities
When co-hosting a baby shower there’s a job for everyone:
Shower Location
Decorations
Games
Food & Drinks
Decorations play a key role in setting the mood and ambiance for the baby shower. Consider incorporating the theme into the decorations with items such as:
Balloons: We used balloons in shades of sea green and gold tied into an arch to add a festive touch. It was a great place for photo opportunities too.
Centerpieces: I made this cute diaper cake and stuffed small gifts from her registry on top. I used the same diaper-wrapping technique as when I make Diaper Wreaths and just tucked them into a circle and tied it off with wide ribbon.
Games and Activities: There are all manner of *Fun Baby Shower Games available online. But our mommy-to-be wasn’t big on traditional games. She requested only one game and asked that it include a sense of humor. So I told her I would plan the game.
Not wanting to let her down I used a small cornhole board we already had and made it into a ‘Toss The Poop Into The Diaper‘ game. HAHA!
I used a diaper tucked into the target hole of the game board. And I used heavy packing tape to add a poop emoji to the cornhole bags. All the guests loved it!
Game Prizes: I used small inexpensive packs of chocolate truffles as prizes.
Food & Drinks: All co-hosts brought food. The cake was an adorable giraffe-themed cake.
The foamy blue punch recipe was found at Baking Beauty & was made of blue raspberry lemonade Kool Aid, ginger ale, pineapple sherbet, some sugar and white grape juice. There was even a blue rubber duck floating in the punch. #TooCute.
Other food was mainly finger food for ease of both hosts & guests:
Homemade Vegetable Tray – Made zero waste by buying fresh vegetables instead of a plastic container holding very few veggies. It was way cheaper too! The dip was a base of my Homemade Salad Dressing with extra herbs stirred in such as dill. Plus we got so many more vegetables for less money that there were lots we couldn’t cram onto this tray. So we used the extras for our salads later.
Fruit Tray – Including watermelon, strawberries, blueberries & more. Also homemade with no plastic trash needed.
Homemade Hummus – easy to whip up in minutes.
Chicken Sliders – These were delicious and whipped up using packages of hot rolls & buffalo chicken.
Homemade Queso & Chips – Made & brought in a crock pot to keep everything hot.
The beauty here is that everyone brings something to add to the buffet so there’s plenty of food. And no one single family must plan for & provide all the food. This is huge, y’all!
Baby Shower Gifts
The new parents received some great gifts at their shower. RancherMan & I retrieved from storage the Jenny Lind Cradle our daughter used when she was a baby and cleaned & tightened everything up. I used Homemade Wood Conditioner made of natural beeswax to polish it to a shine.
The cradle was used as part of the baby shower decor as well, holding her shower gifts. Our daughter loved it!
But there were also lots of fun gifts from attendees such as:
Diapers
Baby Boy Clothes
Receiving Blankets
Burp Cloths
Baby Bottles
Diaper Bag
…and much more!
You can get other *Baby Gift Ideas Here.
We had a great party and everyone had a blast. And the proud parents-to-be received lots of love & some much-needed supplies for the new bundle of joy. Now we wait for our brand new grandson!

Congratulations upon the new arrival. A family that works together; has fun together.
Thanks Colleen, and you’re so right. We do almost all our family gatherings this way, even the holidays. No one family has all hosting responsibilities. It works well for us. ~TxH~
Great post! What I loved about this is you can throw together in a short amount of time with so many pitching in.
Many hands make light work. Our family gatherings are almost always done this way and it makes the gatherings so much more fun. ~TxH~
