Honeysuckle jelly made with the sweet blossoms of honeysuckle tastes just like the blossoms I enjoyed as a child. The jars from this honeysuckle jelly look like summer sunshine! And honeysuckle jelly makes a great gift too.

Being the wife of a talented hunter husband, I’m often cooking wild game here on the homestead. I like to make pulled pork BBQ and I often do. And sometimes I’m using the Cook-Once, Eat Twice method of cooking so I’ll cook my pork roasts with more mainstream seasonings so I can use the leftovers in dishes such as Carnitas Tacos, Pulled-Pork Enchildas and more. But sometimes I like to make pork roast for a more formal meal.

I recently wrote about making some pretty darn tasty shredded pork BBQ from my talented RancherMan’s successful ‘bringing home the bacon’, as it were…
The BBQ was delicious but I decided this time I’d like to bake my own homemade buns as well.
I make jalapeno-cheese beer bread often and thought jalapeno-cheese flavored beer buns might be a fun twist for this meal.
The verdict is in: They were awesome!

Wild hogs are well-known in these parts for the extreme damage caused on on farmers or ranchers property.
These animals are highly destructive as they root and dig. They can completely tear up a pasture in no time flat. And they not only damage to the pasture or crops, but also to the equipment used to work that land whether it be crop harvester or tractor.
The good news is – it’s just PORK and it’s delicious! Feral hogs are simply domesticated hogs that have escaped into the wild.
Having a hunter husband means there’s opportunity to not only remove these damaging creatures from our property but feed ourselves as well.
One of my favorite ways to use this pork is with shredded pork BBQ sandwiches.

Our youngest daughter came home to Texas for a visit all the way from the east coast. One of her fond childhood memories is of my footed cake plate being forever filled.
Sometimes it would have cookies, sometimes biscuits. But there was always something in it. I wasn’t about to have her walk into the house without something under that dome. But what to make?
I decided to use up some over-ripe bananas and some of my own hand-picked pecans to make banana nut bread. I made it healthier for her by eliminating the shortening called for in the recipe and replacing it with applesauce I made from apples given to me from my aunt’s tree last fall.
The bread turned out delicious! I’ll describe my procedures, but the actual recipe will be at the bottom.

Sometimes unexpected company comes to visit and lunch time rolls around – what to serve that’s quick and guest-worthy?
My go-to idea is quesadillas. It’s filling, delicious and quick to fix.

I love chili that contains beans, but RancherMan typically declares that it’s not ‘real chili’ if it contains beans. To appease his purist NO BEANS IN THE CHILI mindset I include one of his favorites in my recipe – dark beer!

I love my morning yogurt, y’all. But several years ago I thought to myself “I wonder if I can MAKE yogurt?”
A quick search of the internet showed that I could indeed, and there were several recipes. I’ve never looked back!
I’ve made 1/2 gallon of yogurt about every other week for decades now & it’s shamefully easy!
Plus I make my yogurt in single-serving 1/2 pint glass canning jars so other than the milk jug itself there’s NO TRASH, recycling or otherwise.
I’m happy to share my method with you – the recipe will be included at the bottom.
