You’re baking cupcakes or muffins, still have batter & need more muffin cup spaces.
No worries! I used canning rings and paper or silicone cupcake liners to expand the capacity of my muffin tin. That way I could bake all the batter into muffins at one time. What a helpful Homestead Hack.
RancherMan keeps our chest freezer filled with wild hog meat. I’ve made many dishes with this lean, mild-tasting wild pork. Many of those recipes are listed below. (Although you could use commercial pork instead)
But recently we were preparing for our annual family reunion. We decided to serve pulled-pork sandwiches with some of this wild-hog meat. But RancherMan wanted to smoke it with pecan wood before shredding it for sandwiches. It turned out Aaaaaaaahhhhh-MAZING!
It’s grilling season, y’all! And that means you’ll need a good BBQ rub and mop sauce. Boy do I have a treat for you!
RancherMan was planning to smoke a whole grill-full of pork roasts using pecan wood. But he needed a flavorful BBQ Rub & Mop Sauce. And he certainly found a good one!
Occasionally I have difficulty opening a stubborn stuck jar lid. If RancherMan is nearby I have a handy (and oh-so-handsome) jar opener right at my disposal.
But if not I still have an easy way to open those stubborn jars. And I do it using a common item in the ‘junk drawer’ right in my kitchen.
I was in a hurry. We were planning a day trip to see my father & I always try to bring food along so he doesn’t have to bother with ‘entertaining’.
So early that morning I made the Homemade Soupand some homemade Apple Crumble. And dad loves cornbread, so I whipped up some of my homemade cornbreadtoo (no Jalapenos this time though…)
But as RancherMan came into the kitchen he saw ‘that‘ look on my face. “What’s wrong?” he asked.
UGH! My cornbread wasn’t rising. In my haste to get everything done I’d apparently forgotten to add the baking powder.
Looking at the flat cornbread & to make me feel better he said: “Don’t worry, I’ll eat them. They’ll be CORN DODGERS!”
It’s beyond easy to make your own taco seasoning for pennies. Just gather a few spices and blend it all together! I store mine in a repurposed glass jar. Come see my easy recipe.
