Quick Garlic Herb Sauce Using Fresh Herbs, Olive Oil & White Wine Vinegar.

by Texas Homesteader ~

Fresh Garlic Herb Sauce is a blend of fresh herbs, garlic and a splash of olive oil & vinegar. It’s a delightful way to enjoy the light taste of summer.

Plus it whips up in minutes and is great on chicken, pasta, even as a flavorful salad dressing!

by Texas Homesteader~

Recently I cooked some great northern beans. They were delicious & we enjoyed them as a side dish for that evening’s meal. I served them later in the week as a quick side dish also.

But then I wondered… Is there a more exciting way to serve these beans that will have RancherMan smacking his lips?

How I Make Cheap ‘Oat Flour’ With Whole Oats

by Texas Homesteader ~

I often replace some of (or sometimes ALL of) the whole-wheat flour in my bread recipes with oat flour. But I don’t BUY oat flour, I make it myself.

Oat flour contains the healthy properties of whole oats. And by making it myself it’s cheap too. Don’t worry, it’s not hard nor does it require high-dollar equipment. I use bulk oats and a coffee grinder, y’all.

You’re not gonna believe how easy this is.

I grind whole oats into 'oat flour' and include it as a healthy ingredient in my homemade bread. The same hearty feel as whole wheat. #TexasHomesteader

Veggie Garden Update + Some Great Harvest Recipes

by Texas Homesteader ~

Whelp, we made it to July, y’all! Now in NE Texas the rain taps will typically turn off about now and will stay off for the rest of the summer.  So although we may get a little ole 1/4″ inch or so every now & then, we can count on manually irrigating the garden from our Rainwater Catchment Systems from here on out.

Let’s stroll through the garden and see how it’s doing, shall we?

Summer is here, y'all. July promises to be hot & dry here in NE Texas. But the garden has provided some harvests. Come check it out! #TexasHomesteader

Enjoying A Cold, Sugar-Free Minty Beverage

 by Texas Homesteader ~

I like to serve healthier beverages. It’s important to drink water, but sometimes it get cat boring. What about a minty drink that’s sugar free. Is there any such thing?

Recently I was looking at my mint bed which is doing VERY well #thankyouverymuch. A little too well actually. It’s spreading in places I’d rather it not grow.

But while I was thinning the rambling mint runners, it smelled so dang good. I wondered if I could use it for a refreshingly-cold minty drink?

I've got chocolate mint growing outside & a gorgeous Stevia plant too. Why not brew it into a refreshingly cold, sweetened minty beverage? #TexasHomesteader

Canning Rings Expand Muffin Pan For Extra Muffins To Bake At The Same Time!

by Texas Homesteader ~

You’re baking cupcakes or muffins, still have batter & need more muffin cup spaces.

No worries! I used canning rings and paper or silicone cupcake liners to expand the capacity of my muffin tin. That way I could bake all the batter into muffins at one time. What a helpful Homestead Hack.

Need more muffin cup spaces? No worries! I used wide-mouth canning rings for those last 4 muffins. Everything baked up at the same time. #TexasHomesteader
