Last fall I was blessed with several large boxes of apples from my aunt’s apple tree. I wanted to make sure they didn’t go to waste.
So I canned apples in syrup, applesauce, apple butter and apple cider, dehydrated apples and made and canned apple pie filling.
Now I get to enjoy the fruits of my labor (oh my, I said ‘Fruits” of my labor. See what I did there??)
My favorite thing to make with these preserved apples is apple crumble dessert using the apple slices in light syrup. It’s delicious and comes together quickly for a delicious dessert when company surprises you with a visit.
Bada-boom, bada-bing and dessert is being served! Looks and tastes like you toiled away in the kitchen for hours. (shhhh…)

I try to harvest and preserve all the fresh herbs I can. I finally got some oregano to grow. In addition to harvesting and using as much fresh oregano as I can, I also plan on preserving it for future use.
My dehydrating procedure is simple and requires no special equipment. Come see how easy it is to preserve oregano.

I’ve discovered my favorite herb to cook with is Thyme. It’s so versatile and it adds a delicious flavor to so many different dishes. And the price of growing fresh thyme in your garden is so much less than buying it – plus it’s much fresher!

Sometimes unexpected company comes to visit and lunch time rolls around – what to serve that’s quick and guest-worthy?
My go-to idea is quesadillas. It’s filling, delicious and quick to fix.
