I repurposed an empty coffee can to make a cute flour canister to store bulk flour. And a reusable chalkboard label makes it look nice in my kitchen too. I love the way it turned out – score another one for zero-waste repurposing!

Sometimes I need a can of cherry pie filling for a recipe. But DANG have you priced that little can of filling? And there’s often lots of filling but precious little actual cherry in those cans.
But it’s simple to make your own gluten-free pie filling using canned or frozen cherries.

We use wood ash as a natural way to reduce or eliminate mites on our chickens. We get happy hens using something that was previously just wasted.
I’m far from a chicken expert, but I thought I’d share what we do to keep our girls happy & mite free.

Rubbing alcohol has natural antibacterial properties. So it makes an easy way to eliminate odors as a deodorant without harsh chemicals or extraneous plastic in my personal hygiene routine.
It’s easy, it’s fast and it’s cheap!

I like to serve biscuits with scrambled eggs, cheese and a breakfast meat to overnight guests. They call them BOBs (Breakfast-on-a-Biscuit). Making the pre-formed scrambled egg disk is easy.
The beautiful thing is I can make everything in advance & just assemble & enjoy.

I wanted to eliminate plastic bottles of mouthwash. Although I found many ‘recipes’ for making your own homemade mouthwash, often they’re overly complicated or use specialty ingredients I don’t want to have to buy.

It’s all the rage to decorate farm style or country chic. I love the simplicity of using canning jars for flower vases.
One day RancherMan & I enjoyed a little exploring time in an area on our property where previous homesteaders took their ‘trash’ decades ago. There were several unbroken old canning jars, no longer fit for canning obviously.
I love to catch a little glimpse into the past when I see what those homesteaders long ago discarded. Especially when I can repurpose those things into something I love for our home.
