In our area of NE Texas it’s generally recommended not to plant the veggie garden until Easter or after – this is why! Hopefully this is the last frost of the season, I’ll be planting soon.

We didn’t receive no frost but did get rather chilly here and did cover my tomato plant just in case.
Gotta agree with ya there Colleen – I thought it was a pretty photo. AND a reminder that in our area, frost can hit before Easter no matter how warm & sunny it’s been in the past several days! LOL ~TxH~
Your so lucky. Here in SW Michigan we wait until Memorial weekend to safely plant. We can plant cool weather plants after May 5th (our average last frost day) but it seems soooo long from now:(
Oh my, Pam – It would be so hard for me to wait so long to plant. Do you plant seeds inside to pacify your gardening itch until you can get them outside? ~TxH~
We had 2 nights of frost and my broccoli and cabbage plants are in the ground. They got a little frost on the leaves, but will come back. I should have covered them. The recommendation is not to plant here until the middle of April here in Virginia. I try to get a head start over the bugs so always push it a little. I would like to try a low tunnel this fall and maybe use for early spring plants too. The peas and turnips didn’t have any frost damage.
I’ve pushed the boundaries in the past too Cynthia – I must have the worst luck ever, it ALWAYS pops me when I do! LOL ~TxH~

Even as far north as we are, Easter week is my traditional seed planting week. I’ll wait a bit longer for my seedlings that I’ll buy at the nursery. My garden is so small I don’t try starting them on my own. – Margy
After last year’s garden fiasco, I’m sorely tempted to do the same thing myself this year Margy. ~TxH~

What a beautiful picture! It’s so funny to compare different areas of the country – we can’t plant ANYTHING until after Memorial day, we always have one last good frost before than and I’m always sorry if I don’t listen to that rule! 🙂 Thanks for linking up at #HappinessIsHomemade this week!
I find it interesting to compare to other planting times across the country as well Katie. There are pros & cons with each region and planting zone for sure. I love the early planting time in zone 8 but of course the heat & humidity of our typical summers makes that early planting time a necessity. ~TxH~
