Throwback Thursday

by Texas Homesteader ~

Y’all remember I planted mint in the flower bed in front of my house?  I loved it, but I was SO afraid it would get out of control. So I asked my dear Facebook Followers for their advice and I was properly scared by their responses.  WHEW! I needed to do something to make it play nice in the landscape. So I decided to dig up the mint & amend the planting area in a way to keep it within its bounds.  Yes.  Mint.  In its bounds!  And to celebrate Throwback Thursday I’ll fall back into the archives & bring it to the surface for ya. If you (like me) are afraid of mint-gone wild, check it out.

I am wanting to plant mint in my yard. Right now, I don’t see why I can’t let the mint take over my whole yard. I have to cut St Augustine anyways, so it might as well smell good while cutting. Isn’t mint good around the chicken coop? Also I want to plant a yard full of lavender. If you know of any drawbacks to this idea, please let me know.

I use the trimmings from my mint in my chicken’s nesting boxes, just to keep things fresh. I love lavender too, but I lost my lavender plant last year. I have a new plant waiting to go out as soon as life slows down long enough for me to plop it into the soil! ~TxH~
