The forecasters gave us the proverbial snowball’s chance of rain in our area so I jumped on the tractor to mow down the tall dried seed-head grasses in our south pasture. I’d like to give the grass a fighting chance of at least slight resurgence for early summer grazing. The sudden record heat & dry weather on the heels of the devastation of last year’s drought are enough to cause a rancher to cast a worried eye to the sky. But we got almost an inch of rain last night and now we’re enjoying a cool, rain-filled morning – love it!
