Salsa Made From Canned Diced Tomatoes

This simple salsa substitute works great when you find you need a bit of salsa and don't want to run to the store and buy a whole jar. Just a can of diced tomatoes, onions, peppers, garlic and salt/pepper and you're on your way! #TexasHomesteader

Ingredients

  • 1 14-oz can Diced Tomatoes
  • 2 Tablespoons Finely-Minced Onion
  • 2 Tablespoons Finely-Minced Bell Pepper
  • 1 Clove Garlic, finely minced
  • Teaspoons Lime Juice
  • ¼ Teaspoon Salt
  • Pinch Red Pepper Flakes
  • Tablespoon Chopped Fresh Cilantro (Optional)
  • 1 Minced Jalapeno Pepper (Optional)

Instructions

  1. Combine all Ingredients and stir together. Can use immediately but it's best to allow it to sit for about an hour for flavors to blend.

  2. If desired, pulse the ingredients in a blender until desired consistency is reached.

Notes: This salsa should keep in the refrigerator for about a week.
