Homemade Blackberry Cobbler

When Those delicious blackberries are in season why not harvest them & make blackberry cobbler? This is a super-simple recipe with delicious results! #TexasHomesteader

  • 4 Tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter melted
  • 3/4 cups plus 2 Tablespoons sugar (divided)
  • 1/2 cup self-rising flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 cups fresh or frozen blackberries


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an approx 6x8 baking dish with butter.
  2. Place 1/2 stick of butter in microwave safe dish. Heat for 30-45 seconds until melted. Pour melted butter into baking dish.
  3. In medium bowl whisk 1/2 cup of sugar with 1/2 cup SELF-RISING flour and 1/2 cup milk. Rinse the blackberries and pat them dry

  4. Pour the batter into the baking dish. Sprinkle the berries evenly over the top of the batter. Sprinkle ΒΌ cup sugar over the blackberries
  5. Bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. When 10 minutes of cooking time remains, sprinkle the remaining 2 Tablespoons of sugar or cinnamon over the top and return to oven to complete baking time.
