Homesteading Blogs Sorted By State!

by Texas Homesteader ~

A few weeks ago a reader suggested that since cooking directions can change based on altitude and gardening plans can differ based on planting zones, someone should compile a list of homesteading / Simple Living blogs separated by the areas they reside in.

BRILLIANT, and challenge accepted!

Such a list is helpful for not only the reader of my Texas-based blog but also for all blog readers wherever they’re located.

So below you’ll find a list of awesome blogs separated by U.S. location and there’s even a spot to list some great blogs from our Canadian friends!

Since many of our readers are from Texas I’ll start there

But the list is separated by U.S. states below.  C’mon y’all, check it out and show some love to some awesome blogs!

Texas Homesteader (that’s ME!) Texas

  • https://texashomesteader.com/ – I share a glimpse into daily life on a Texas homestead whether it’s spending time in the garden, canning that excess produce or puttering in the kitchen whipping up simple yet delicious meals. My focus is on self sufficiency & living gently on this big, blue planet we call home.

  • http://www.picklecreekranch.com/blog.html – Post topics include the ranch and activities there, such as the way we catch rainwater to sustain water needs in the cabin. Your site appears to be one that would fall in line with this list. 1) Could you email me (contact shown at the bottom of my ‘about us’ page) and give me a 2-3 sentence description of what your page is about? And 2) Would you consider sharing this Homesteading Blogs Sorted By State link/page on your site as well? Your readers may also benefit from knowing different sites in different states. Thank you! ~TxH~

What a great idea! Thank you for doing this, I always read your blog even though Massachusetts is pretty far removed from Texas
I hope some New England bloggers ask to be added soon

What a great resource! I work for a homesteading school based in North Carolina and would love to get added to this list. You can learn more at http://www.wildabundance.net/blog. Are you still adding folks to this list? Any interest in adding us?

Sorry it’s taken me so long to respond, Amy – I’ve been dealing with illness. I think your site would be a great fit and would be happy to add you to the list! ~TxH~

This is a great resource as knowing what region a homestead blogger is from really helps out when they suggest something that they do that would possibly never work in your area. I know…I’ve read a lot of blog articles, tried a few, and some simply won’t work in my area.

Anyway, I haven’t hit all of these blogs yet, but have looked at a few and they really are good resources! Heck, if you’d like, feel free to add our Central Texas area blog. We’re probable closer to College Station than Austin, but somewhere in the middle… https://whirldworks.farm

Thanks Patrick, I like to have all these self-sufficiency and homesteading blog links in one place too. It seems lots of folks are interested in learning to DIY and learning to be self sufficient. So I think it’s an awesome resource for readers, especially since baking/planting instructions can vary based on planting zone or altitude. ~TxH~

This is wonderful, and I can’t wait to visit these sites. I would love for The Farm Wife to be added – I’m in Louisiana, a state that isn’t on the list yet. Let me know if it would be a good fit for this list!!

I think your site would be a great fit Julie. I’ve asked each included homestead to share this list on their site for their readers as well – would you be willing to do that? Also, can you give me a 2-3 sentence summary of The Farm Wife for me to include for your description? Welcome aboard! ~TxH~

Looks like your blog would be a great fit for this list Aryn. I just updated to include your great blog. I’ve asked all blogs that are included on this state-by-state list to include this list on their own blog as well – preferably on an evergreen area such as a tab on their page. Would you be willing to do that as well? We can each help our own readers find more great blogs! ~TxH~

Thanks for the list. Will be interesting to look through. Do you ever go to the Annual Homestead Fair in Waco? This was my first year to go. Went Labor Day weekend for the sorghum festival and again thanksgiving weekend for the Homestead Festival.. It is amazing. If you haven’t been, it’s worth seeing.

I love that this resource list is by region. That way, I can not only check out things going on in my area (planting dates, events), but also see what’s happening in other parts of the country. It’s ALL GOOD!

Thanks for including Maple Hill 101! We are honored to be among so many great blogs!
